Portugese Paradise – May 2023

Oh dear South-Western Portugal. You have stolen my heart. I am literally tearing up while editing these photos.

Your colours, people, beaches, food, textures, produce, seafood, wildflowers, flora & fauna! We had 12 Days of 24 degrees Celcius, West Wind & Cloudless Skies while visiting you in early May. Man did you treat us good. Thanks to M for being by my side. To Connie for showing us around. And Willi & Gitte for sharing your paradise with us. Obrigado Obrigado Obrigado. I’ll just let the images speak for themselves.

Where we Ate :

Alice Geletaria – Tasty Ice Cream in Sagres

Pisco Restaurant – Funky but Classy Dinner Spot in Vila del Bispo.

Azenho al Mar – Family Seafood Restaurant right on the Coast

Gaia – Trendy Cafe, Co-Working Space & Zero Waste Shop

KOYO – Tasty Coffee, Ice Cream, Trendy Art & Beautiful Back Terrace

Andorhina do Mar – Hippie Cafe & Shop run by Germans

Markets where we Shopped :

Small Market in ODX – Only 3 stands but cheap, cute, local and friendly!

Aljezur Farmers Market – Massive Saturday Morning Market. I got very overwhelmed. 20+ stands!

Vila do Bispo Farmers Market– Local Produce & Fish & Very Friendly Salespeople, 4 Stands

Where we Beached :

Praia di Arrifana – To many surfers and surf schools for our liking. But if you want to learnt o surf this is the place !

Praia do Carvalhal – Just Local, cute, wind blocked with a cute tickey bar for snacks & drinks

Praia do Odeciexe – Beautiful & wide, with the river joining the ocean. Lots of Snack Bars & Restaurants & a Toilet

Praia do Armoreira – So many stairs to get down, but beautiful & secluded.

Praia di Amalia – Beautiful 10 minute walk through the jungle to get to a great spot.

Praia da Carreagem – Not very wide. Tricky hike down, but beautiful and secluded.

Where we Slept 11 Nights :

Our Paradise House – a renovated cork farm house owned and lived in by 2 very friendly Germans since the 90’s. I CAN NOT recommend this place enough :)

Our Rental Car :

OK Mobilty – cheap & reliable and a 5 minute shuttle from the Faro Airport. We only used 1 tank of gas. Super happy about this decision. Was easiest to get everywhere we wanted to explore. And to and from the Faro airport.

My approach to photography is simple and pure. I use only natural light to create an image; and work hard to develop an artistic photo, whether it be for a client or as a self project. I do not care about staging shots, excessive make up, and set ups. I capture what is there, with love for that special moment. With an advanced diploma in photography from Canada, I choose to follow my dream to work as a freelance photographer. With over 10 years in experience, I can capture your special moments, smiling faces, products or food in a simplistic, colourful and uncomplicated way. I photograph with my heart and believe in sustainability, conscious consumption and responsibility. When you book a photography session, purchase an image, or participate in a workshop or retreat, you are supporting social organizations and projects. I run my small business on green electricity, all print material is climate-neutral and supports other charitable projects for people and the environment. This is a very important concept for me to follow. Every daily decision and choice we make, has the potential to create a cleaner and happier community and world. If you are interested in purchasing fine art photographs or my cookbook, hoping to have images taken or just want to connect, I am happy to make a new friend.
